I have photographed Hilda before. She’s a cute little Frenchie who likes to dance with her mom, Melissa. The question is, what exactly was she dancing to when I photographed her?

No secret there. Here I am testing out the Canon 24-105mm L lens for my upcoming sessions this Sunday at Murphy’s Paw in Pleasanton. This baby is sharp. Love it. Perfect for the doggies (and whatever animals have signed up).
I am in dire need of hugging my Karma girl all day long. She had me at woof. (Where have I heard that before?)

Halfway through the Pleasanton Downtown Association First Wednesday Series of the summer! We are looking forward to once again having You Had Me At Woof Photography’s® display booth set up to greet the masses. Also I am thinking it might be fun to bring Karma down to hang out with me this time. She loves to visit with people and it’s great practice for her obedience and therapy work.
Make sure you stop by and say hello. We will be in our usual spot, next to the Murphy’s Paw booth and directly in front of their pet boutique store. In fact, we will be talking a little more about our summer photo event on Sunday, July 25. Your $15 donation will support the Valley Humane Society and get you a quick mini session of your pet plus a complimentary 5×7 to choose from an online gallery posted the following week. You also will be welcome to purchase additional prints and products from me if you are interested. Make sure you stop by the Paw and sign up–they always fill up quickly.
Looks like Murphy and his boys are cool with this event!

First Wednesday is July 7 this month.
Finally, Zoro and Indy would like to show you how feisty and cute Chihuahuas can be.

A few years ago I photographed a Dalmatian named Baxter and his newborn baby sister M who was born to Baxter’s mom and dad from Willow Glen. This is one of my favorite photos ever. Baxter lived almost 15 years and was a special dog to my clients.

Baby M is now 2 and she welcomed a baby brother. Ellie is their other Dalmatian who was at doggy daycare the day I photographed baby M and Baxter. Ellie is now 3 and a delightful dog. She doesn’t have the brown spots that Baxter had, but she can tilt her head at the slightest urging from me.

Someone was in heaven each time he had his face and ears scratched.

The dog on the left is Hogan, age 5. The dog on the right is Tank, age 3. Hogan is a Shar Pei/Lab mix and Tank is a Neapolitan Mastiff/Pitbull mix.
According to their mom, Julie, Tank came to them via “our Friends, Mike and Lindsay, at the Pleasanton Farmer’s Market who told us about him.”
Hogan came to them from the SPCA because he needed a home.
Neither are very picky about food. Tank’s favorite food is his friend Thuy’s homemade dog biscuits and Hogan’s favorite food is anything on the top of the counter.
TURN ONS? Tank: snuggling- anyone who will throw a ball for him.
Hogan: someone who will scratch his back.
TURN OFFS? Both would answer bath time.
If Tank wasn’t a dog his occupation would be a body builder. Hogan would be a therapist.
Julie said that Tank’s most embarassing dog moment is “the fact that he cannot (or will not) jump into my truck”.
She said that Hogan “hid in the garage for hours one night when my dad came in-poor guy was scared”.
Apparently both dogs’ favorite person other than Julie is their dad. I don’t think she meant bio dads-I think she meant her husband, but she didn’t elaborate.

As told to me from Niki's mom, Stayc. WHAT IS YOUR DOG'S NAME? Niki Lynn Feil WHAT BREED IS YOUR DOG? Doberman WHAT IS YOUR DOG'S AGE? 5 months HOW DID YOUR DOG FIND YOU? We searched far & wide on the internet and found her from a breeder in San Jose. However she was born in Missouri and shipped out here. FAVORITE FOODS? Anything that's already in Jesse's mouth. Half the fun is taking it away from big sis. TURN ONS? Love snuggling with mom on the couch, or snuggling on dad's side of the bed. TURN OFFS? Don't like to get my toes wet so I hate wet grass. The loud hair dryers at the groomer are also very scary. IF YOUR DOG WASN'T A DOG WHAT WOULD ITS OCCUPATION BE AND WHY? Don't know what human occupation would include frequent naps, not getting your feet wet and pooping in the house when nature calls.... but if you know, sign her up! MOST EMBARRASSING DOG MOMENT? Friends and relatives on their way over to celebrate a birthday - house is perfectly clean...... and Niki decides to poop in the front room! WHO IS YOUR DOG'S FAVORITE HUMAN BESIDES YOU? She loves her daddy - she drives him absolutely bonkers (since he didn't want another dog), but we know she holds a special place in his heart![]()
Jesse's mom Stayc answered my questions for today's post.
WHAT IS YOUR DOG’S NAME? Jesse Lynn Feil
WHAT BREED IS YOUR DOG? “Labba-door”
WHAT IS YOUR DOG’S AGE? Will be 2 years in June
HOW DID YOUR DOG FIND YOU? We searched far & wide on the internet and
found her about 3 hours away (can’t remember the town)
FAVORITE FOODS? Anything on the counter!
Favorite story – John spent the better part of a day slow cooking a 3 pound
pork roast one afternoon to make pulled pork for dinner. As it turns out,
at the last minute John & I ended up going to the county fair. We called
Gary to tell him to help himself to the pulled pork when he got home from
football practice. Later that evening we received a call from Gary asking
us why there was pulled pork all over the ceiling and walls!
As far as we can piece this together we think she somehow maneuvered the
large, bulky Le Creuset pot off the stove and when it landed on the floor
with a huge thunk it splattered everything. In her 2 hours alone with this
large roast she cleaned up virtually every bit of it except for the high
places like the walls & ceiling…… but if she could have pushed a chair
over and gotten on it I’m sure she would have done so. The pot and
everywhere else in the kitchen showed absolutely no signs of the pork orgy that had
taken place!
TURN ONS? Pulled pork (see above), long walky-walks, fetching tennis
balls, wrasslin’ with Niki, fishing, any activity outdoors, hangin’ with my
homies at the dog park, licking bare toes, stealing socks, going to the
farmers market and getting lots of attention, riding in my mom’s convertible,
biting the wind & slobbering down the side of her car.
TURN OFFS? Being left alone.
IF YOUR DOG WASN’T A DOG WHAT WOULD ITS OCCUPATION BE AND WHY?
If Jesse wasn’t a dog we think she’d be some sort of social butterfly
perfect as a party planner or hostess. When she comes upon someone you can see
the friendliness in her eyes and just envision that she’s saying “Hi my
name is Jesse, will you be my friend, want to play, can I go home with you,
etc, etc, etc”
MOST EMBARRASSING DOG MOMENT? Puppy kindergarten class at the age of 15
weeks, we’re all sitting in our seats listening to the instructor and she
decides to pee (and pee and pee) on the carpeting. Ok no problem, this sort
of stuff happens. Problem is the following week she decides to do it again.
Nothing like having to clean up a gallon of puppy pee in front of the
entire class (twice)!
WHO IS YOUR DOG’S FAVORITE HUMAN BESIDES YOU? Sorry to say I am not her
favorite human, Chris is. She calls him her “boy” and she does everything
with him. When he sometimes spends the night at a friends house she sleeps
in his bed and soaks up all his smells! (P-U stinky teenage boy ugh)

WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Rosie WHAT BREED ARE YOU? Chihuahua Dachshund mix.....with a dash of Sugar WHAT IS YOUR AGE? 2 years or so. HOW DID YOU FIND NATALIE YOUR OWNER? A few months ago when Natalie picked me up from a County shelter. Natalie works at Valley Humane Society and they rescue cats & dogs from county shelters at risk of euthanasia. She instantly fell in love me...a major occupational hazard to say the least. I was adopted (by someone else), and Natalie cried. The home did not work out for me and I was returned a few weeks ago. Natalie took me to her home sweet home immediately. This was a risky move because it's a mega cat household (which is why Natalie didn't adopt me in the first place.) But this all has changed. I have become "one of the colony" and fit in like I has been with them forever. My new parents absolutely love me and can not imagine life without me. According to Mom, "Everything is better with Rosie." FAVORITE FOODS? Dog treats at Murphy's Paw, the cheese ones. TURN ONS? sunshine, and fetch TURN OFFS? loud deep voices....ooooh scary IF YOU DOG WEREN'T A DOG WHAT WOULD YOUR OCCUPATION BE AND WHY? Aerobic instructor. Because I am an urban dog and like to stay fit, so being peppy and enthusiastic, and slightly forceful in my techniques is best done in an a gym. MOST EMBARRASSING DOG MOMENT? That's for us to know...and you to wonder. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE HUMAN BESIDES MOM? Dad Gino, Natalie's husband. Third fave is my Godmother Wendy.

Dutch is 2 and Abbott is 8. They found their dad through his roommate's breeder. Their favorite foods are anything Thomas is eating, including fruits or vegetables. Turn ons include walks and rescuing other cats and dogs Turn offs are mean people, big egos and baths. If Abbott couldn't be what he is, he'd be a bigger dog like a Lab or Golden. Dutch would be an explorer. When asked about embarrassing moments I was told that Dutch is a puppy so he has nothing but embarrassing moments. Thomas is their Nanny (Manny?) so their favorite people would be John and Marci who pay the bills and allow their lavish lifestyle. (Caviar King Charles?)
